Food Distribution

NFL pro bowl player Braylon Edwards teamed up with Feed the Children and Focus: HOPE recently to distribute food and personal care items to 400 families and senior citizens. Every year, Edwards returns to his hometown to provide assistance to community residents. Pictured above are (from left) Steve Whetstone, vice president of international relations for Feed the Children; Edwards; Malesa Plater, executive director of the Braylon Edwards Foundation, and Eleanor Josaitis, co-founder of Focus: HOPE. Below, Edwards and volunteers loaded the boxes directly into vehicles so that people didn't have to stand in line on a hot afternoon.

ACCESS Community Service Day

Volunteers from Arab Community Center for Economic & Social Services (ACCESS) planted flowers and packed food boxes recently as part of National Arab American Service Day. Above, volunteers planted flowers in the Cool Cities Park next to the Village of Oakman Manor senior apartments.  Energetic volunteers also packed 3,000 boxes of food for delivery to homebound senior citizens, built raised beds for a community vegetable garden, and planted flowers around Focus: HOPE's campus. In one afternoon, the group had a huge impact on our neighborhood.
