CompTIA Award Winner
Darryl Jackson, a student in the network administration
program at Focus: HOPE won a $250 scholarship and certificate
of merit from CompTIA for achievement in information technology
training and for passing the certification test.
The award was made through the Education Foundation
of Comp TIA, the Computing Technology Industry Association.
The awards program is designed to reward top-performing IT
students with financial support for continuing education
in the IT industry.
Hermaine Turner, an instructor in the network
administration program, nominated Jackson for the award.

ITC Network Administration
The key word in Network
Administration is connectivity – the system of relationships
that makes a network a network. Connectivity flows along a fascinating
variety of channels: cable, fiber optics, telephone connections,
radio frequencies, lasers or microwaves. As a Network Administrator,
you will work with all of these connectivity media, as well as the
equipment, hardware, and software required to maintain the optimal
flow of data along these media.
Network Administration is a team-oriented, project-based discipline
that requires both physical and mental fitness. You will climb ladders,
lift equipment, and work with tools. You will be constantly learning
and updating your skills – passing additional certification
tests which position you for ever-greater opportunities.
Program Length:
53 weeks, 1006 hours
Classes meet four hours per day, Monday through Friday.
Tuition:
$12,700
Financial aid and scholarships may be available.

- CCNA – (Cisco Certified Network Associate)
- CompTIA A+ Certification
- CompTIA Network+
Job Titles
Upon completing the NA program and passing the certification
tests, you will be qualified for entry-level positions as:
- Network Technician
- Network Administrator
- Network Control Operator
- Help Desk Technician
- PC Technician
Salary Expectations
$10 to15 per hour at entry level.
With two to three years work experience and two certifications, you can earn
up to $60,000.
