Jason D. Lee joined Focus: HOPE as Chief Executive Officer in August 2016. Lee oversees Focus: HOPE’s operation, direction, strategy, innovation, communications and more. Previously, Lee was Executive Director at DAPCEP (Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program) working towards increasing the STEM educational program capacity for the Detroit Metropolitan area, specifically for young people from historically underrepresented backgrounds.
During his tenure, DAPCEP developed innovative programming, reduced operating costs, rebranded, relocated and supported student programming. Lee also held numerous management and engineering positions at Ford Motor Company from 1998–2004. He has his Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering from University of Michigan and his Bachelors of Science from University of Maryland Baltimore County. He serves on numerous boards and organizations including; 100 Black Men of America, Greater Detroit Chapter; Birmingham African American Family Network; Michigan Engineering, Diversity & Outreach Advisory Board; National Society of Black Engineers and more.
Lee has been awarded Michigan Chronicle’s Men of Excellence 2014, Corp Magazine’s 2014 Diversity Business Leader Award and Oakland County’s Elite 40 under 40. He has also completed the National Urban Fellows: America’s Leaders of Change; Harvard Business School’s Strategic Perspectives Non-Profit Management Program; Detroit Regional Chamber: Leadership Detroit and New Detroit—The Coalition: Multicultural Enrichment Program
