Admissions office ready to provide first steps to a new future

Prospective students are welcomed to Focus: HOPE Centers of Opportunities where an array of career preparation programs are available. To begin on the road to a bright future, contact the Focus: HOPE Admissions Office by calling 313-494-4300.

All applicants must have a high school diploma or hold a General Education Development (GED) certificate and be drug-free. Please click here  to learn how to request a copy of your GED certificate or transcript or high school diploma or transcript.

The admissions staff is ready to help you begin on a path to change careers and become self-sufficient.

Follow these steps to begin:

Step 1: Contact an admissions representative to schedule an appointment to learn about Focus: HOPE programs and to schedule an assessment examination. The exam is used to determine math and reading skill levels.   

Assessment exams are given every Tuesday and Thursday unless otherwise noted.

All prospective students must arrive at 8:00 a.m. with picture identification and a calculator.
Those repeating the reading exam must arrive at 8:30 a.m. Those repeating the math exam must arrive at 9:45 a.m.

On assessment exam day, applicants will be given a campus tour and will have a one-on-one meeting during which an admissions representative will discuss test scores and program eligibility. 

Each program has a required minimum skill level.  

Fast Track requires an eight grade reading level, fifth grade math level, and  69% or below on the computer assessment.

MTI  applicants must achieve a ninth grade reading level, 10th grade math level, and achieve at least 70% on the computer assessment.

ITC applicants must test to 12th reading, nine grade math, and achieve at least 75% on the computer assessment.

Step 3: Meet with Student Services for registration orientation and a program interview if required. All admissions documentation is due at the registration orientation, including:

  • High school diploma or transcript or GED certificate or transcript
  • Valid photo identification
  • Social Security card
  • Birth certificate
  • $25 for drug screen and physical

Those needing to improve reading or math are offered a Fast Track program that enables students to dramatically improve their skills in a few weeks. Focus: HOPE also offers financial aid and scholarships to make education affordable. 

New classes start continually. The admissions staff hosts weekly campus tours, explaining the education and training careers that await you at Focus: HOPE. The staff also is available to visit your school, church or other organization to explain our programs to prospective students.
