Apprenticeship Opportunities

About the Apprenticeship
Through a new partnership, Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA), Focus: HOPE and Henry Ford College have developed a three-year apprenticeship program to hire and train Electrical Instrumentation Control Technicians (EICT) for GLWA. The program will provide On-The-Job training and education at no cost to the Apprentices. Upon successful completion of the program, individuals will have obtained an EICT-I certification from Henry Ford College, received Journeyman status and full-time employment with GLWA. Apprentices will attend classes at Henry Ford College to earn their EICT-I certification, as well as work full-time at a GLWA facility.
During On-The-Job training, Apprentices will rotate locations every six months and work one-on-one with a GLWA Journeyman in order to learn as much as possible about the entire water treatment system. At the end of the second year, Apprentices will earn an EICT-I certification from Henry Ford College. After successful completion of the program, Journeymen will be required to give back as many years as they spent in the apprenticeship to GLWA or be required to reimburse GLWA for the cost of their.
