There are many ways to get involved at Focus: HOPE

We wouldn’t be Focus: HOPE without volunteers. We are always welcoming volunteers to help in all of our projects and departments. The generous support from our volunteers will help us expand our impact — and will provide a meaningful experience for those donating their time on our behalf.

Ways to Volunteer

  • Pack Food Boxes

Volunteers that participate will be “pre-packing” or boxing up food items for our homebound seniors. Or “cutting stock”, that is Focus: Hope lingo for opening boxes and putting food on pallets

  • Assist Senior Shoppers

Volunteers that participate will have the opportunity to mingle and assist seniors as they pick up their food, help them to their vehicle, or by “cutting stock” to replenish the food on the distribution floor.

  • Homebound Food Delivery

Focus: HOPE serves 14,000 homebound seniors every month. Volunteers deliver food boxes to our homebound seniors living in the metro-Detroit area. Volunteers must have their own transportation.

  • Assist in the Early Learning Center

Assist with the daily care and activities with children ages 6 weeks-5 years old. Duties may include assisting with meal time, bottle feedings, reading to large and small groups, playing in the gym, assisting office staff, and cleaning/disinfecting toys.

Volunteer of HOPE

Do you know a volunteer who goes that extra mile?

Volunteers of HOPE is a volunteer recognition program that recognizes the hard work of our volunteers. Show someone that their work is being recognized and nominate them for a Volunteer of HOPE Award. Selected awardees will receive a certificate of appreciation and will have their story featured in the Volunteer Newsletter, Blog and Focus: HOPE website.
